Me and Paul Langlands are chillin here in New Hampshire U S A , eatin massive burgers, driving in massive trucks and also doing Massive jumps at the 2010 Highland MTB park CLAYMORE Challenge Slopestyle Comp.

Today we had Qualifying , which went not too bad for us Kiwis ( we are the only Un north american riders there, except for yannick from France)

Back in the WHIS

 Its good to be back in my 2nd home WHISTLER B.C ...
We got in a couple days ago an I have been setting up our new place . Hells yeah we are close to the lifts and village , so it should be an Epic summer!
I am coaching on Camp of Champions this week , teachin the new school of riders how to send it off cliffs! yeeehaaa..
Next week I'm off to Mew Hampshire USA for the Highland MTB park Claymore Challenge slopestyle ,and then right after that on to Colorado for

Chatel Mountain Style

Last weekend it was time for Chatel mountan style in France , CMS is a Big mountain  event on "The Face" at Chatel bike park.

I showed up on the thursday and checked out the course. Holy Sh*t , it was pretty Gnar , the first drop was about 11 metres High , straight into a pretty massive step up jump , the rest of the course flowed down the hill with more jumps drops and Chutes and off course ROCKS.haha
I was actully pretty stoked on the couse as every one was shittin their pants about some of the stuff , its good when there is only a few guys who are brave enough to ride some course features.
The weather in Chatel is crazey ,Every day without fail at 2pm it POURS rain. some thing to do with the big lake I think , so conditions were allways pretty slick on the course.

but I ended up switching it for   my  Corsair Konig  130mm slopestyle rig , i swapped a few parts over and got up the hill for my

maiden voyage on the bike down the course which was also my Qual run! , The konig was  pretty sweet on the course, very manouverable, so I was stoked , 2pm the rain came and we all went home and hoped for a nice sunday.

I woke up sunday and it was mint weather , we headed up . the course was still pretty slick but we rolled in for finals runs.
I dropped in and flipped the monster step up and couldnt have landed any smoother! I was hella stoked and my run was going really well , then I slid out on a wet off camber drop landing , and crashed pretty bad, I was pissed cause it was so small and stupid , my run was pretty much done . A crash knocks your fluidity points alot.
 We had a second run to get it dialed but when I got to the top ,2pm rolled around and so did the pouring rain... and they called the comp off .

 Thats comp riding for ya, One mistake and its all over!  Next year I'll be back!

26 trix FINAL

So 26 trix final went down yesterday , the morning was windy as hell so no one rode , after lunch the wind died off a bit so we all went up and got some practice ,I wanted to get a few xtra tricks in the bag before my run and I 360'ed the hip before the 11metre  double that you had to hit PINNED  and came in a little slower than usual .... and I thought I would still sneak over ...WRONG haha , I came up short and ATE it so bad. the jumps were so hard and made of Gravel and I got carved up! there would have been bugger all left of me if it wernt for my mint 661 elbow and Knee pads ( cheers Worrals!) After having a breather for 10 minutes and getting my cuts bandaged up and duct taping my jeans back together it was back into it  to get ready for the final.

                          These 661 low profile elbow pads are amazzing! they saved my elbows and                                           I  didn't even know I was wearing them!
There were 15 guys in the final and every one was shredding! My 1st run was MINT , I laid down everything I wanted to nice and clean /smooth So I was stoked to have a good run in the bag. After everyone had done their 1st run I was sitting in 5th , which I was hella stoked on , every one  Really started going nuts in Run 2 , I had a few things up my sleeve for run 2 to up my score , I ended up drifting too far right on a flip table and ran into the rough stuff and lost my speed for the next set  , Dam it !
 I ended up 11th on my saftey run  which I was pretty happy with .  I was the only rider from pre Qual to make the finals so I was stoked on that.
 Cam Macaul took the win with a pretty dialed run , and Brandon 2nd ,Martin Sodrstrom 3rd Congrats Brahs!

It was a sick weekend all up , it was my fave comp so far because it had decent size jumps for a change ( as opposed to some of  the uphill/ soggy dirt/ bullshit setups I have ridden on this trip!) I think 26 trix is real MTB contest , Decent size jumps /down hill/at speed. the course is better to ride on a MTB cause its pretty rough and fast as hell . Its cool to see courses that are better to ride on a MTB than a BMX on some of these smaller courses its like you are sledge hammer to drive a tack!  . Big bikes, big wheels , big jumps.hit it PINNED Thats where its at I rekon! haha

I'm in Leogang at 26 trix  at the mo. its been cool, We had pre qual on thursday and I got 4th there , and made it to yesterdays Qual for the 15 man final where I placed 8th , Hella stoked . i'm off to ride the final in a few hours , its heaps fun to ride the jumps (if its not windy!) they are pretty damn big .. and made of Gravel  and ....concrete...haha

MTB World Cup Leogang

I had a great weekend watching the world cup DH and 4X in Leogang Austria.
There were 22 riders from New Zealand and i was feeling very patriotic watching the racing!

I was stoked on Sam Blinky Qualifying 1st on saturday on a loose and slippery course. what a shredder.
The 4x  was really cool to watch , every one was giving it their all , after all the elbow bashing, Tbones and wild crashes it was Jared Graves who ended up on top.

More rain over night made Sundays DH race a rutted muddy mess.  Not too bad for the Kiwis as most of em know how to ride in the wet!

The Hot seat was occupied by Kiwis quite a few times! Gorge Brannigan was 1st in the with a 4:20, My team mate and personal hero Matt Scoles Knocked him out with a 4:16  next in the seat was Cam Cole with a 4:11 I think. Scoles ended up 14, Justin Leov finshed 8th and Cam in 5th and Blinky in 4th.

Yo bro's
just here in Leogang at the moment, I have 26trix DJ comp next weekend so I thought  might as well come watch the KIWIS at the world cup this weekend and also ride some of the bike parks in this part of Austria.
Yesterday we went to Wagrain park for a look, pretty cool park designed by the whistler team. we shredded the trails there which were in hella good nick and niiice and tacky.

It was great to be shreddin on my Corsair Crown as I havent had much of a chance to ride big bikes with all the dirt jump comps. The bike handles so well and I am stoked on the  Marzocchi 888  Rc3 evo TI,  it works super well in the rough and I set it up to ramp up nicely for the big hucks! Sha rode my Corsair Konig and was loving it.

Today we hit up Saalbach hinterglemm which is 20mins from leogang, cool park . we are a little early and a few of the lift aren't open yet, but still had a shralp on a few trails and busted out the vid cam for a few clips.

We are gonna hang out here for the next week and ride parks/film /practice on 26trix course (which is feckin massive BTW ! and rock hard made of cheese grater gravel and also some cement!)

 I'm really looking forward to watching the WC this wkd, we will be cheering for the Wide open boys Brook and Matt!. hope to see some Kiwis on the podium!

Adidas eyewear factory visit

I was heading to Linz, Austria to ride the Dirtjumps
so I emailed the dudes at Adidas eyewear to see if I could come check out the factory since it is in Linz. David was all for it and Sha and I jumped in on a factory tour with some of the Adidas eyewear ski team. All the Ski crew were cool as and helped translate the german to me since I was the only one who didn't understand..

The Factory was pretty interesting, I was blown away with the precision machines and robotic arms etc. a lot of thought,  technology and quality control goes into making the eyewear which is why it is such and amazing product.

It's great that they have kept all the manufacturing in europe, providing a large amount of jobs for local peeps.

I picked up a couple of new sets of ID2 googles and a pimpin set of Suria glasses while I was there. lookin TRICK!

missions

Since we got our car jacked we have had plenty to do ! Arranging passports and insurance as well as  traveling and most impotantly RIDING!

i went to Ireland for a couple of  days to try and  find my Great Grandad Harry McGarry , I couldnt find the old bastard but I had a good time trying....

I flew back to Holland and hooked up with Dutch shredder Kevin Katinas and his Bro Dennis and they took me to Hollands best trails , There was a WHOPPA of a jump at the end of the line that was offf the CHIZ! we rode there the whole day and  Dennis shot some mean pics so look out for them floating about!

Next stop is Hungary for the Balaton Bike Festival... and on to 26trix in Austria..yeeeehaaa

good times and bad!

Well we are just on the way to Paris from Toulouse after the Slopestyle champions league competition. The comp was cool , it was set in this “freeride compound” with mad stunts and jumps and even a set of poppy BMX trails in the trees next to the course. Pretty rad spot to take your bike. the course was pretty sweet with a stepup stup down into a monster 8 meter 1st jump and 2 more jumps ,also a sketchy pedal all the way to the top and jump Boner log . haha i.


We kicked off the weekend with a dirt jump jam on the dirt jump line , it was a bit windy so it was pretty chill, then it was on to the SS course to test it out. Everything worked pretty well except the boner log. Oh and the 1st guy to hit the 8 meter 1st jump sent it to flat on his face! Owch . turns out you needed to brake a little!! We had quail runs and I had clean runs so it was all good
On Sunday it was finals time and the sun was shining and there was jack all wind ..air guitars all round! All the riders sessioned the bmx trails while it was bloody hot which was sweet . after that it was finals time on the slopestyle course every one was gettin pretty Gnar .one gut double fipped tyhe 1st jump which was so crazey as the landing was ROCK. My run was solid except for I hung up on the last jump GRRRRRR! . I cant find the results to the comp yet so i will keep looking

The weekend turned for the worst when our car got broken into and my passport/wallet/phone /GPS/clothes/ vid camera/laptop etc ect got stolen! I was super bummed but I was glad they didn’t steal my bikes! We had to head to Paris to get me a Emergency Passport. Which is where i am right now!

have had a premium week of shreddin. I stayed in Antibes at my couzins place for a few days, and rode this "mega ramp" set up down the road, they just finished building it when we got there and we (me and Yannick granieri) had to guinea pig the ramp. it was set at about 10 metres and it sucked as there was not enough speed from the roll in to make the distance . the vert quarter was so sick tho! I session that thing hard..

Then we had to head out to a comp in toulouse, the best thig about it was Peynier trails were on the way. They are some of the best jumps I have ridden . massive 8 and 9 metre gaps and they all work SO well . we had a sick session there until we had to drive to toulouse, which is where I am NOW for Slopestyle Champions League!

FRANCE

Hi guys

I'm in France at the moment , I went to the FISE comp last weekend in Montpellier , we showed up on thursday and the course looked pretty sweet , basically the same as last year with a few bit s and peices changed up. generally pretty sweet . Over 60 pro riders registered for the comp so it was sure to be tough .  
I practised up thurs/fri and had everything on course dailed so I was happy .

We woke up on saturday morning and it was BLOWWING its ass off , gutted as the wind was coming accross the course at 90 degrees making the bridge drop super sketchy .  No one was keen to ride so after a lot of pissing about they decided to run Qual and finals on sunday . Qual at 9am.

On sunday I dragged my ass out of bed early to go ride my bike off a bridge . when I showed up the wind was pretty chill , we practised for an hour and then started the Quali runs , (9am) about 10 riders did their runs , I had 3 riders left until my run then the wind just started ! really strong , and the rest of the riders just walked off and said it was to dangerous to ride. I didn't know what to do so I just took my run in between gusts and had a clean run.  It didn't count for anything tho , the comp got called off untill 1pm , and the course was butchered to make it safe ( 1st bridge drop cut out / road gap kicker made to flat drop)

Every one was OVER IT!  I normally try to stay positive but I was pretty over it too. 
I was trying to practice in the wind and ended up getting blowin off course and I landed in a hole they dug the landing out of! I got so smashed. I thought the weekend was over for me . a few painkillers later I was back on the bike.   I made the final and rode the comp , I was pretty dam sore but Im stoked I rode ,

All up FISE wasnt as good as last year but that was only due to the weather.
Now I am hangin in Antibes and doing some riding on this MEGA Ramp setup which is pretty cool it has a Massive vert quater at the end and Its hella fun!

My Corsair bikes

ODI MCGAZZA grips hell yeah!!

Hey Bros .

I FINALLY got my Corsair Crown Downhill bike built up while I was in Italy to complete my Corsair trilogy ! Crown /Konig/Ducat

I hav only ridden it a few times but it is SIIIIICK! I sent a road gap on it and it seems to fly perfectly!

I kitted it with some sweeeeet parts including:

2010 Marzocchi 888 forks
Rocco rear shock
2010 anodized green Hope V2 brakes (braided lines)
Gravity :Stem/bar/Hset/chainguide/cranks/BB/Pedals
ODI grips (ruffian lock on)
Sram X9 deraileur/shifter/dh cluster
Atomlab pimp wheelset
SDG i beam post and seat

Im looking forward to shredding this bike on the rest of my Euro Tour and also back in Canada

Italy King Of Dirt

After Nimis we headed to Lake Garda for the Italy King of dirt and and Night sprint 4x race. The events are set up at a bike trade show in Rive dal garda , so there are plenty of bike enthusiast’s floating around . I got in on the Thursday and hooked into some practice on the dirt jumps . they were simple as , and pretty fun. All the Events were the next day , I was rode pretty good in Dirt Quali and made the 10man final so I was stoked. I also qualified for the night sprint 4x aswell .All the events were under lights with a pretty decent crowd looking on . I nearly missed my first 4x heat because I couldn’t understand the announcer blurbing german over the mic . haha got there just in time. I raced a few heats and did some Gnarly overtaking manoeuvres and made the semi finals . haha I didn’t even expect to make the first heat! My semi race was pretty stacked with Rob J, Bear claw and the guy who won last year and me in the outside gate.I managed to get third on the heels of rob J . The Night sprint race was so fun and Im really pumped I raced!

Dirt final kicked of immediately after so I cut the numberplate of my Ducat and headed to the jumps . the lighting on the jumps wasn’t the best! I had a clean first run and got to loose on my 2nd and third runs , I ran out of landing barrel rolling the the last jump and ate it pretty hard . I got 9th overall in end .
It was so cool to have all the riding done on the Friday night , the next couple of days we just cruised around the trade show and I went for a ride with the Marzocchi crew on a 28 km DH run which was SICK.I got the last of the parts I needed to build up my Corsair Crown DH bike and it is HELLA TRICK! We also had a great night at the trade show party on sat night. All the booths put on free beer and food and everyone goes nuts! Sha and I had a go on the mechanical bull , Sha was actually pretty good ( better than me) So if you are in Italy when the Riva trade show is on I say GO THERE!
