Passes and Breaks trip 2013

I just got back from a mega raody around the good ol south island of New Zealand with that maple syrup drinkin, Timmy Hortons slurpin Canadian Mike Hopkins , the Kiwi /Canadian ripper and all round joker Casey Brown and talented  photog and organiser of the amazing trip Camilla Stoddart.

We basically Hired 2 Steeeeezzzzy  VW Combo vans and set off into the sunset with bikes , surfboards and a few sausages and beers to see what NZ had to offer!

It was an amazing trip and look out for a full article coming to an MTB publication near you in the near future.

Yo bros. Couple of weeks back I went on a bit of an adventure mission to Alexandra and Naseby with the Diaries down under team . Check out this chill little edit we made Cheers!

2013 Unit Farm Jam

Wham bam thankyou mam 2013 Unit Farm jam is all over once again. you all know the drill..., the green grassy rolling  hills ,the flocks of sheep chowin down a mean feed of grass in the paddock  , the coming together of the two wheeled  codes in  the ultimate playground for BMX MTB and FMX shenanigans ,hundreds of bike riding FIENDS congregating in one place  huckin off dirt ramps, gettin all craaazzzzy in mid air  then lighting massive bonfires and generally having a hec of a great time .

I think this was farm jam number 5 for me and I can honestly say was the best one yet , unfortunately I crashed out , used my face for brakes and smashed my spine into a pulp during practice then was forced to watch the comp from the side line ..But the the weather , attendance of international riders, course additions  and general atmosphere were unmatched at the 2013 Farm Jam .

With Unit and Red Bull coming to the party in a big way this year it was possible to get some of  the country's top trail builders and excavator drivers to combine heads and shovels with legends of 2 wheeled escapades The Frew Bro's to add some extra dimensions to the long running event. The  FMX crew carved up some new terrain and created a whole new stomping ground accross the valley from the old course. The BMX/MTB lines also got some love and were looking siiiick with a few extra lines throwin in there too .  Just watching  fridays practice and seeing the level of riding going on it was pretty obvious the jam was going to go off like a pork chop in the sun! waking up on Saturday to pretty decent weather was exciting and before we knew it , it was Huck'oclock. With the Help of Gravity Components MTB kicked off first , Groms and well knowns were seen to be sending themselves towards the moon in a bid to get the vote of their peers and get a spot on the podium , It was great to watch . The NZ contingent of shredders were going nuts , Nick Dethridge , Phil Mclean,Lewis Jones and Conner Macfarlane all smashed it with new lines , rad tricks and general rowdyness  on their way to the podium  but it was the little spanish savage Andreu Lacondeguy who took 1st place with   some mega steez and mega tricks all done at high Altitude , not to mention making an appearance  in every discipline farm jam had to offer . FMX , BMX and MTB ...Andreu punishes them all,nice work mate.

BMX was next on the bill and Whoooa shit got out of hand , I have traveled alot and been to a few Bmx comps before but I have never seen Bmxers gettin after it like that! . The level was so High it was hard to take  it all in . The Highlight of the day for me was watching young Aussie shredder Kyle Baldock   absolutely shut the place down, I have never seen anyone tear it up so much in one sitting , His tricks were off the  charts but the thing that blew me away was the height he did them at , I could break down the trick list for you but it would be way better for you to check it out for your self on one of the Web edits sure to be smashing your crack book account very shortly . Epic.

You have to give the Frew boys and their huge crew of family, mates, helpers and sponsors credit for having the vision and drive to make this unique event come out of the ground every year , Every one who walks or rides in the gate has a blast, Spectators old and young, guys who have just learnt to do Xups to the best riders in the world, the event is so chilled and fun it is impossible to have a bad day . Nice work cuzzys you are doing the NZ scene proud !

Farm + Coast mission

Myself ,my girl Sam , The one and only Mike Hopkins and Ryan decided a weekend down south was in order .
So we loaded the van and headed to the Frew farm and then onto the coast .
We caught 40 Paua (abalone) and hucked some sweet jumps

Yo Bros!

I just got back from Aussie , I went over for the Xup free ride festival slopestyle comp..
I flew from NZ and got in to Sydney ...It was 47 degrees!!! thats right 47 frickin degrees .....it was with out a doubt to hot to ride!  so we went to the beach for the day ..
the next day its was blowwing wind so hard it was really dangerous to ride.
Finally it came right for an hour and I finally got to ride the whole course .
It worked pretty sweeet and i was pumped to ride the comp.
But our mate mr Australian weather wasnt having a bar of it and it proceeded to piss rain for the rest of the weekend .

so that was it ...I went and shredded Castle cove dirt jumps on monday  which was siiiick and bondi bowl on tuesday ...the rest of the time was spent surfing my butt offf!
hahaha all in all ...good times
Will be back next year to throw it down.
