Czech Republic and Linz dirt jumps

Linz dirt jump park

Next stop was Czech Republic for some sightseeing in Prague and drivin the country roads to Linz Austria via Tabor. Prague was a really cool city, we checked out some old stuff and drank some coffee then hit hte road.

We tried to find out if there were some dirt jumps cos there are some sick Czech riders but no luck so we ended up riding at the Linz jumps where they hold Austrian king of dirt. Niki Leitner came to meet up and ride which was rad, Linz jumps were sweet, loads of lines and a couple of pretty large jumps. We sessioned there until we were tired, then loaded up and drove 2 hours to Vienna

Bavarian outback

From Switzerland we drove the "bumblebee" to the Bavarian outback of Germany. She made it all the way there! Phew!
I met up with Dominic Amberger at his backyard dirt jumps, we rode until dark - it was a good session!

A week in Switzerland

Hangin with the tourists at the Top of Europe

Just spent the last week in Switzerland getting sorted for the next few months, bought a super sexy Fiat Fiorino, it's amazing. Hopefully it will get us around the place.

Did some DH tracks in Thun with Ramon and the crew. Wicked day for it. Some fun riding around here.
Next stop was 'The top of Europe' with a million other tourists.. it was super wicked up there with views all round the alps and stunning scenery. The train you take to get there is the highest in Europe, it goes up to 3500 metres

Top of Europe

On the way down we stopped in the Alpine Village of Wengen where our friend Naomi, who is a local showed us around and we watched the annual Poolrace event where competitors race down a slope on skiis or snowboards with the aim of making it all the way across the pool of ice cold water, some are pretty good at it, others not so much and there were some sick crashes and splashes which was entertaining!

Poolrace in Wengen

Other than that have been enjoying Swiss food - delicious cheese, bread and meats, even got treated to a home made Fondue dinner the day it snowed!

The next mission is to Vienna Air King which is a dirt jump contest in downtown Vienna.
www.vienna-air-king.at
Going to check out Czech Republic on the way and do some sightseeing.

Cheers, Kelly McGarry

fire pit Dirt jam

Hey guys

Just got back to Nelson after a massive roady in my sh%tty van! I can beleive I actully made it ! It burned 6 litres of oil in 3 days driving! it is pretty toasted.

I made it back just in time to shoot some pics at the Firepit jumps the night before the jam. Unfortunatly I slammed really hard and smashed my elbow on the ground causing it to swell up like a large breast on my arm.

So I couldnt ride in the jam which I was really bummed about! the good thing is its not broken and I am skoffing back loads of anti inflamitorys to stop the swelling.

The jam went down on sunday and every one had a good time, it was alittle windy but the GROMMYS were out in force and it was cool to see all the little fellas out there rippin on two wheels.

I ended up judging the jam and a few of the local dudes got hooked up with some prizes which was cool.

The local BMX crew were shredding which was cool to see!

we are planning on doing another jam next summer that will be bigger and better so get out there and practice!

Farm Jam 2010

I just got in from a radical weekend at the 2010 Farm Jam , If you weren't there you missed out on one of the best weekends ofBMX /FMX/MTB flowin, trickin, sendin ,and straight huckin that ever went down in New Zealand!

The Frew farm is Situated just out of winton in Southland and the weather couldn't have been better for the big weekend of two wheeled shenanagans.
Unit clothing came to the party big time at the Farm Jam Throwing down some $coin$ for prize money as well as copious amounts of awesome product and even bringing a a chopper to capture the antics as they happened from some high angles.

Gravity Components also threw down some $$ and great product for the MTB contest which was siiiick! and Red Bull made sure evry one was pumped and not thirsty for the weekend Cheers Guys!

I showed up on Thursday to have a ride and help the team set up some wooden structures and the riders started flowing in from Aussie and all over NZ which was pretty awesome
The frew farm has progressed over the last few years into one the best places you could ever take your bike or moto with a fully sick Moto Fmx dirt/ramp park on top of the hill and a mad set of dirt jumps and a dirt pipe and 10ft dirt quarter at the bottom of the hill for bicycle shrederizing.

The 1st Event to kick off was the FMX and the Field was stacked with Top level riders . the man on top was Unit/Red Bull sponsored Kiwi weapon Levi Sherwood who was ridin loose and hangin it out with some burly trick combos like flip shaolin barhop flip and cordova flips. the dude is made of rubber! The whole FMX event was so good to watch ,those boys go LARGE.
3pm rolled around and it was time for the MTB/BMX throwdown show down ! It was all in MTB BMX rider judged 45 min ride any line you want as many times as you want EXPRESSION SESSION...haha!
Every one was loving the format and things were getting out of hand ,a few highlights for me were , watching Unit rider Dane Searls absolutely destroy the the entire dirt course with steez ,burly tricks and gapping the entire dirt pipe deck which was about 30ft long! Paul Langlands was also on fire , throwing down on the Big line with cannon balls , supermans , flowwy 3's and flips and whips both ways.
The MTB crew were rippin too Conner Macfarlane 3'ed the first drop which was sick and also got loose on the big line with a flip one footX and I think he 3'ed the last jump which I have only seen Brett Frew do before. It was good to watch Elmo C and Phil M shred the course with tricks and steez. Karl B flipped every jump in the big line in a row and boosted the shiz out of every thing.

The Gnarliest thing that I saw all day had to be "The Bastard" FRONT FLIP off the Gravity Drop 2nd try. without even just riding off the drop 1st! sicko !
After the BMX/MTB finished up we went back to the Moto course for the Moto /style race which was basically a chilled race with extra points for rippin it sideways.. Local racer Scotty columb was down with the format and hauled ass around the course throwin some nasty whips and took the win .

All in all it was an amazing weekend of Two wheeled action I was stoked to get 3rd in the MTB and win some $CASH$ I will be be going back next year for sure and so should YOU!.

YO.

Just got back from another mint road trip, we (Ramon and I ) went to the Frew farm and also the stoney hills dirtjump jam in Dunedin . Both spots were the Shizzle , 1st we went to the Frew farm to check out the new line, have a swing on the shovel and kick it with my mates Dan and Brett Frew and also my hometown homey Karl Bensemann . The boys have been busy and there is some awsome new stuff to ride there , keep your eyes peeled for farm jam coverage ..it will be a BANGER. We had a quick sesh on the new hip line and headed for Stony hills.

We turned up and the trails looked amazing, the Henry/James and crew had been diggin hard and the weather was the best I had ever seen it in Dunedin! we sessioned till dark on friday night and woke on sat morn to another sunny windless day.

I went for a quick surf at st Clair beach then went to the trails and started riding ,the trails were running sweeet and they had a judged jam which was a 45 session and the two extra 2o min sessions to bring out the bangers.

Every one was having a great time a few high lights from the top of my head were the up and coming shredders Phil M , Conner and Elmo gettin it DONE with great riding/tricks all over the trails, Conners 360 transfer was off the CHIZ , Brett Frew was spilling STEEZ every where as usuall , Karl Bensemann was up in the trees BOOSTIN , Team ENGLAND Foz,Tom, Seb and Duncan were makin the most of every line and left no jump untouched and finally I was pumped to some how win the judged jam ...Yahooo!

Thanks to every one involved for a super sick weekend of "Roastin Trails"

Cheeeeeeers

CHCH

We had enough of the northisland and headed for the "real" New Zealand , The SOUTH island of course! We called into My home town of Nelson and jammed my entire room into my van which was Chaos ! I followed Ramon down to Chch Via the samll town of reefton which has one of the sickest skate parks in New zealand . We had a cool ride there and it helped me get used to my New Corsair Ducat frame.

after that we headed to the big smoke of CHCH , The trip wasn't with out some dramas , just as we got into CHCH the fan belt on my van snapped and started over heating we had to tow it to where we were staying thru peak boyracer traffic which was entertaining , ramon stopped to find his torch in the back of his van and moved the Kayak and it smashed thru his back window! the night was not runnung to smoothly , we also got snapped by a redlight camera which was great! We made it back to petes joint at about 2am and caught some sleep so we could ride the jam in the morning.
1st stop for the Jam was Petes new Trail he built called Pop and fresh ,it was a super fun freeride/jump trail on the port hills and we all sessioned it in sections and threw down a few STUNTS here and there. It is good to see people gettin out there and building trails
Next it was off to the Main venue , BowenVale dirt jumps at the bottom of the port hills.
The jumps were in super good nick and we had a good throw down session , I was impressed with a few of the grommys who are defintly steping up. good shit boys.
We had a knock out style trick comp on the step up which I some how ended up taking out ,if ramon had landed his 3whip in the final it would have been different!
we had a bit of a party after the whole thing was done which turned out to be pretty funny!
Cheers to Aint a big deal MTB show , Pete,Toby, Mike ,Andrew and Phil and the rest of the bvale crew for hookin it all up .

Sunday it was a chilled ride on the Flyin nun track...a coll mellow flowwy track on the port hills.
CHCH riding scene is definitly taking off.
Cheers !

CORSAIR

Yo Peeps
I have a new frame sponsor for 2010 and it is CORSAIR , I am fully stoked on it , I just got the Ducat hard tail built up and had a quick ride , I will be building up a new Konig slopestyle bike and Crown DH bike in the next month so look out for some pics .
Corsair make bikes that target the kind of riding that I do so riding their bikes makes alot of sense.
I'm really excited about my new bikes and 2010 is shaping up to be a sick year of riding I will be going to Queenstown to live/ride for 1 month and after that its on a plane to Switzerland to get a van and travel around competing in comps all over Europe for 3 months, then the start of july I will be heading back to Whistler to base myself there and Compete in the USA/Canada comps and also do some coaching for Camp of Champions .
Yahoooo!

Worralls

We called into see the Team at Worralls on the way out of town this morning and picked up some gear for my new bikes I am Building up….(what kind of bike???? ! look out for more posts coming very soon!!) I got some sweeeeet SRAM gear including orange and green anodized X.O derailleur’s and shifters which look sooooo TRICK and weigh nothing! Also new 661 Kyle straight Kneepads, and also some super low profile ….. elbow pads since I cant wear bulky elbow pads and Also a new GIRO Section helmet which has the shell integrated into the poly and is ridiculously light weight and looks Primo!
It was cool to see the worrals HQ and see where it all happens , Thanks to Allister , Mavis and the Team at Worrals .

RAMAPGE bike park

Rampage park is a new Indoor BIKE park that has started Auckland , It is really cool to see some one start up something cool like this so Ramon and I were keen as to go and check it out! We turned up to the north shore warehouse to find a fully sick set up all made of brand-new ply with a 6 foot spine mini set up ,2 small box jumps ,2 bigger steep box jumps in rhythm ,a vert wall and a Hella sick foam pit . I couldn’t get my pads on fast enough to ride ! every thing was made really nicely and it felt good to flow thru the box jump rhythm and boost the Vert wall at the end . I also had a mega huck session in the foam pit and possibly lost 50 litres of sweat ! eeeewwww. Again it is set up really well with nice foam and 2 goood kickers.
We stayed there the entire day and had a blast YOU should check it out ! http://rampagebikepark.com/

Sick weekend

YO
Well the coast to coast jam is all done and it was a fun as hell event , we got up at Chrises farm in huntly and loaded up the mighty van and High tailed to Raglan to ride the first stop of the coast to coast tour . We turned up at lewis’s place to find the jumps were wet and every one was at the Raglan bowl so we headed there and busted some airs which was sick its like concrete trails there! It flows really nice.
We went back and had a quick sesh on the the dirtjumps but they were pretty wet so we headed to the Beverland compound to get our huck on.
Chrises jumps are situated in huntly and flow down one of the rolling hills on Chrises farm. They have a sweet wall ride midway and we had some massive floodlights and the REDBULL HUMMMER with crakin sounds to keep the session crankin into the night.
A bit of wind stopped the session from starting but it died off and we got down to bizo.
There were Grommys shredding all over the shop ,mega boost, mega steez and mega transfers was getting thrown down on a regular basis.
But again it was Paul Lang banger getting LOOOOSE , tricks on every set and slayin the final jump with flip turn downs , three turndowns and even going for a couple of flip whips . which was dam ballsy as the landing was rock hard..
I loved riding the line and jumping at night with a whole bunch of rad peeps stoked me the hell out . I kept it pretty chill with a few 3’s, flips and no cans etc and just had fun ridin .
We woke in the morn to Rain , the team headed to Caseys jumps about an hour away , we got word that they were wet so we missioned with the Red Bull crew over to Paul langlands backyard jumps. It was super windy there but we had a quick session anyways and then rocked to the old school Crankin park in Ngarawahia I cruised in the Red Bull Hummer and it was epic ! haha I got to get me one of those weapons! We only just fitted out the gate of Pauls and the was an massive amount of stereo equipment between the passenger and driver. People just stared at us as we rumbled past .haha !
Crankin park was cool we pedaled are ass’s off and hit some fun pretty mellow booters And did big ol whips.
It was getting late so we piled in the Hummer and smashed it back to Auckland . We had a tour of the Red Bull head quarters in Ak which was primo , what a RAD company Red Bull is, any thing that is kickin ass they are behind it seems!
That was the end of a sick weekend! Thanks to all involved ,Chris B and family for having us to stay and ride ,UNIT clothes for Hookin up some mean threads for the Jam , Justin from Red Bull for cartin me around in the hummer Timmy , Mavis ,Diggler and crew for getting RAD . CHEERS! p.s sorry for the lack of pics ! we were to busy riding!
